چکیده

Internal geometry of a textile reinforcement is an important factor of the reinforcement performance during the composite manufacturing and service life. In this article, generalized geometrical models of structural stitching loops are presented for the sewing, tufting, and dual-needle stitching methods. The term 'structural' presumes here that the stitching yarn does not only consolidate the plies (as the non-structural one does) but forms also a through-the-thickness (3D) reinforcement. The models account for the general features of the yarn loop geometry and are believed to allow for enough precise modelling on the mesoscale (textile unit cell) level. The modelling approach is validated with experimental data.

Structurally Stitched Preforms: Experimental Characterization, Geometrical Modelling, and Fe Analysis

Correct modelling of textile reinforcement is an important factor as for the composite performance during its manufacturing as well as for the service life. In this study, experimental data, generalized geometrical models, and FE analysis are presented for structurally stitched preforms. The term 'structural' presumes here that the stitching yarn does not only consolidate the plies (as the non-...

Internal Structure of Structurally Stitched Ncf Preform

The paper addresses the experimental investigation of the unit cell architecture in a structurally stitched multilayer carbon-fibre preform. Each layer is a multiaxial multiply non-crimp fabric (NCF) knit with a non-structural stitching. The term “structural” presumes here that the stitching yarn does not only consolidate the plies (as the non-structural one does) but also forms a 3D reinforcem...

Mechanical Properties of Composite Materials Made of 3D Stitched Woven-knitted Preforms

This article presents an experimental investigation carried out to understand the mechanical behavior of composite materials made of 3D stitched woven-knitted basalt fabrics. The innovative preforms used consist of two outer layers of a plain woven fabric combined with two inner layers of weft-knitted fabrics. The weft-knitted fabrics selected for the study were varied plain knit, 1 × 1 rib, Mi...

Analysis of the Microstructure and Deformation of Woven Composites Using Microfocus X-ray Diffraction

Unidirectional (UD) prepreg based laminates, consolidated in an autoclave, have been the principal material choice for the composites industry especially for aerospace application. There are concerns, however, about the damage tolerance and compression after impact (CAI) performance of UD composites, in addition to the high manufacturing and material costs. In recent years, the composites indus...

Neutrophil Chemotactic Activities In Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid From Patients with Bronchial Asthma

OBJECTIVES To elucidate the presence of neutrophil chemotactic factor (NCF) and characterize them in the bronchial trees of symptomatic patients with bronchial asthma. METHODS Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluids were concentrated by ultrafiltration. Differential counts of BAL cells was performed upto 500 cells on the cytocentrifuge-prepared slides. NCF activities in concentrated BAL fluids we...
